Hello, I have been accepted to Mcgill University.
And for my first year, I have to live at carrefour Sherbrooke (It wasn’t my first choise, RVC was)
So please,Anyone, who went to Mcgill, how was the athmosphere at C4? Good? or not ?
Is it possible to change for another residence like RVC ? Or should I stay in this one ?
I need help !
Thank you!
Why do you not like C4? It is only a block away from RVC and the rooms are generally bigger and nicer. The only advantage of RVC is if you are female and want to live in the all female section of RVC. Switching residences can be a hassle.
Depends on what you want from your residence.
RVC is the more traditional, dorm style residence with smaller rooms, shared spaces and bathrooms.
C4 on the other hand is a hotel style residence so you basically get a big room with a bathroom and TV.
Because the rooms are small, RVC residents will often hang out together in common spaces and the lounge. In C4 on the other hand, people will tend to hang out in their or their friends’ rooms.
As an RVC resident I do find that C4 people are a little clique-y and hang out in tightly knit groups.
That being said, both residences are pretty awesome and very close to the downtown and the university.
Changing residences is definitely possible as some people leave/change their residences creating spaces. I know a few people who changed residences and I can tell you it’s a lot of hassle moving all your stuff so unless you are really keen on shifting or get a transfer opportunity early in the term, I wouldn’t recommend it.
