Honestly, they are all great schools. It depends on what you are looking for? Location...campus feel..etc. I am not to sure on Franklin and Marshall College, I did not even know they had a business program.

These are very different schools. Small Liberal Arts College in rural setting to medium-sized university in urban setting. If you want straight rankings, go to US News. If you want a good fit, figure out what you want in terms of size, location, academics, extra-curriculars etc. Visit if you can. And, choose the best fit. You probably can't go wrong with any of those schools unless you choose a bad fit for you.

1) Bentley College - Master's Universities (North) #6
2) U of Richmond - Liberal Arts Colleges #40
3) Franklin and Marshall College - Liberal Arts Colleges #40
4) Fordham U - National Universities #67
5) Northeastern U - National Universities #96
6) Villanova U - Master's Universities (North) #1

I really don't know how to compare across categories. Again, it depends largely upon the type of school you want.

Fordham over University of Richmond. Univ. of Richmond is way overpriced for what you get. Unless you have a car, you're stuck on campus at UR. Also, social life revolves around frats and you pretty much have to join a frat in order to feel included. Also, the city of Richmond can't compare to NYC! NYC is not only safer, but offers you anything and everything you could possibly want in a city.

nysmile, your opinion was very true and thoughtful! Thanks UR is way too expensive to attend. In fact, It is the second most expensive college.
So now I have narrowed it down to Fordham and the rest. Could you also comment on the rest i.e Bentley C, Northeastern U....

Thanks

One more question: Do you all think I should go to a college close to NYU,the nation's financial hub if my concentration is Finance?

ojin,
check out the above link. Type in the college you're researching in "search". You may have to set up an account (it's free). You can get some great inside information about the schools. Make sure you select--"student's say" option. You can read up on how students feel about the campus. Bentley sounds great (if you're looking for a smaller school). Northeastern is large and from what I've heard, most of the social life takes place in the city of Boston at bars. It could be fun if you're looking for a more city experience rather than a campus experience. There is a large party (drinking) scene at Villanova but if you love sports, the NCAA Division I basketball games are fun.

The area immediately surrounding Fordham is very commercial. It isnt the best part of the Bronx but nor is it the worst. Being a Bronx native you probably would not see me there at night, NEVER. So common sense is important when living in the Bronx. Fordham is also near the Bronx Zoo as well the Botanical Gardens( this area is much nicer.)

The Metro North is right next to campus, which should take you right into Grand Central in 25 minutes.

Wow! I didn't know safety is a big issue in Bronx!
Dennis173, so you wouldn't suggest that I go out in the night, right? That would mean no social life off campus.

Fordham's Bronx campus is VERY safe. Excellent campus security in fact. Of course, like any big city you dont go outside into the city and wander around late at night alone. Fordham kids thus socialize outside in groups.

Richmond is a great school with a great southern reputation. Ignore the racism comment. Yes, its a frat school and full of rich kids. But its a superb school.

Villanova is a wonderful school near Philadelphia that is often very close to Fordham in its offerings and students flip a coin on which school to attend.

Northeastern is in Boston and is also an excellent school that is rapidly gaining in reputation.

So there you are: New York, Philadelphia, Richmond (which is only 90 minutes to DC).

Can't comment on the schools, a few comments on some of the locations:

F&M: Small liberal arts school, one of the oldest in the US. Lancaster PA is a medium size city , nearby is some of the prettiest farmland in the Northeast. Philadelphia is about an hour away, no idea on bus or rail service.

Villanova: 'bit larger, suburbs of Philadelphia.

Northeastern - in Boston. Urban campus, well-known for it's co-op and intern programs. Boston IMHO is one of the best college cities in the US.

Richmond - western suburbs of Richmond. Campus is a bit isolated from downtown (such as it is). Washington DC is 2 hrs by car, not sure about bus or train service.

You'll have to decide which type of location suits you, as well as look at the programs and your financial situation. If you can call the schools or ask if they can put you in touch with alumni you can speak with, that may help your decision.

Do not get scared of the Bronx though. Like I said common sense will take you far. Personally, though, I would not walk the Fordham area alone at night. If I am not mistaken Fordham offers what they call the Ram Van which picks you up at night at local subway stations. The Fordham campus is VERY SAFE, in fact it is an oasis. When you are in the campus , one does not feel that one is in NYC! I think its a great school, so do not worry about the area.

I have narrowed it down to Fordham and Northeastern. Richmond is just too expensive to attend. NYC and Boston are both great places to spend my next four years. How should I choose between the two?
