Anyone with a crappy HS record transfer from a CC to a private?

I'm really interested in transferring to Stanford now and I was just wondering if anyone was ever in my situation but managed to transfer there. Thanks.

search the forums here

there are plenty of cases like that

jimbob, there aren't really much people (i don't even know of any or haven't heard) of someone with a bad hs record that transferred to stanford from cc. there are other schools, but stanford? o_O

Tiberius, give us your stats and will tell you if you have a shot. Stanford it tough, though. You still need high SATs to transfer to Palo Alto.

you're going to have to take 2 sat 2 subject tests if you want to have a realistic shot at stanford(they STRONGLY recommend taking these-i called them). So you might as well study for and retake the SAT 1 test as well.

"you're going to have to take 2 sat 2 subject tests if you want to have a realistic shot at stanford"

I dont know... I got in as a transfer without ever taking SAT II's, and I know of others as well who got in without them.

wolbster1, did you transfer in with a crappy HS record?

My unweighted gpa is like a 2.9 I think.

Oh, and they don't care if I take the SAT again in college right?

No, I actually had a 4.0 in high school and was valedictorian...BUT i went to a really crappy public high school (didn't offer any AP's, the majority of students dont go on to college, etc.)

As a sophomore transfer, they will look at your high school record. If you are applying as a junior transfer then high school wont matter as much, though I'm sure they still take it into account.

You have yto be totally exceptional to get into Stanford as a transfer. I've watched friends with excellent stats and outstanding ECs at great schools get rejected. They mostly seem to take those with outstanding academic research that has caught the eye of a department. Focus on getting profs there to support your application.

I got into Stanford as a CC transfer, with really strange high school grades (very high, then all Fs, as I was forced to leave school early). I'm also a bit older, so that might have helped. Feel free to PM.
