I got a call for an interview today, and was wondering if anyone ever worked at a theatre. I also have an interview for a clothing store on friday, so I'm not sure what I should do. Thanks

whatever pays more ;)

i have a lot of friends working at theaters who like it, watching free movies prerelease is pretty damn sweet too

I've heard it's hell. If you have an Indie theatre near you, check that out. Much better situation.

Interesting, I just got a call for an interview from Kohls. I'll have to look into that too.

I believe I heard pretty bad things about Kohl's too :/
I buy all my stuff there though.

hehe, like what?

I'd rather work in a movie theatre than in retail. I've worked in retail and it wasn't one of my better life experiences.

Yeah, retail is definitely the worst. You could do worse than movie theatres, but I know someone who had to work like 12 hours doing concessions because of the Spidey 3 release.

I haven't worked in a theater, but my friends who have hated it. It might still be better than retail, though...

My friend just got a job at a movie theatre and he doesn't mind it.

I've heard bad things about movie theaters too...
I guess it probably depends on the theater though, because I also have friends who love it.

I have three buddies who worked at movie theaters during HS. The positive is that you get free movie tickets--these guys then gave some of them to us and we all went on their off-days.

Hours are the negative. It's cool to see a big-name movie at 12:00 midnight when it comes out...unless you have to be up at 6AM for school the next day! Then the next day in study hall they'd have reviews for us and then take naps instead of joining us for donuts and coffee.

It also depends on the boss. This is the case for a lot of jobs though. Some are cooler than others. The one at the theater that these guys worked at only hired people during the school year--these guys all started around the semester break just so they could have summer work.

These guys enjoyed being together as a group--they'd usually work the same day and they had older friends who'd come back during the summers as well.

I'd go for both interviews and see which seems like more fun (and more money!).

Ya more money!
I would work as a waiter/waitress. Tips!!

go on money. I know somebody that worked at a theater for a long time and didn't mind the job, but quit because the pay was terrible and it never increased.

I work at a theatre and its a pretty sweet gig. Not that bad at all.

Yes...the pay doesn't change much at a theater. One of those three guys finally got a raise, but it took him almost two years and his reward was a puny 25 cent per hour increase.

If you want a good sized raise go into clerical work part time...I've been in it for a year and a half and have gone up a whole dollar.
