Anyone's TAG get approved yet? Oct 15 is earliest date right??

it is technically November 13th now. nothing yet, bummer!

So people who applied to merced, you guys havent received anything yet? because i havent and im freaking out here :/

^i like your name :D

and i couldnt agree more…

Maybe im wrong… ugh… wait till monday??? please no

thanks, and looks like it, i don’t see the point in releasing dates when they’re not going to go by it. im waiting on santa cruz and merced! hello to the longest weekend of my life… and many others as well im assuming.

If we followed all the TAG requirements there is no reason for them to deny right? since theres no competition with TAG… I got the GPA, did the assist courses, will have 61 units by the end of spring.

@hurryupUC
as do I, but theres always that reassurance, comfort and pride from hearing “congratulations!” right? :)

is that what it says? “submitted-under review” gets replaced with “congratulations”? yeah, i cant wait until monday rolls around finally, hopefully everyones who has been having mini heart attacks all week get approved!

Hey guys, I got approved for UC Davis but I just have one question. I had taken 57 units in a 4 year college in a foreign country and I am taking 12 UC transferable units this fall. I know that they are not gonna accept some of my credits but It says on my tag decision that “You completed 46.00 semester/69.00 quarter transferable units when your UC Davis TAG was signed. You must complete an additional 14.00 semester/21.00 quarter units to complete the remainder of your required minimum 60 semester/90 quarter transferable units for junior status by the end of the spring 2011 term.” Does this mean they counted my “in progress” units in this fall too? Or do I have to take all 14 units next spring??? I’m confused.

they take fall into also, so whatever you have for fall AND spring should be 14 or more units combined. so for spring you would just take whatever is left over after fall.

Hey guys, I called UCI to clear up some things about TAG. Even though UCSD’s decisions do not come out until Monday this information still applies to them and should apply to each and every other UC participating in TAG according to a UCI representative…

First, if you received a rejection letter TAG response then your TAG is obviously not approved and this decision is almost certainly irreversible. The UCI representative said “Don’t even bother trying to appeal, it won’t work”

Second, if you received the other type of letter, not a rejection letter, this IS TAG approval regardless of whether or not the word “congratulations” appeared on it. Once again, according to UCI, the reason they do not deliberately say you have been accepted is because they have had “numerous” people not fulfill the classes they said they were going to on there application, withdraw from classes, achieve less than a 2.0 gpa in spring and other situations where a TAG may be withdrawn. For these reasons, and these reasons only, our TAG letters were not as congratulatory as one may have preferred.

With all that being said, UCI stated that as long as you do complete the classes you listed on TAG and your UC application, maintain above a 3.0 gpa, and remain a full-time student, you TAG is and will be approved resulting in guaranteed admission into the university.

Hope this helps clear some stuff up…

Cool! Thanks!

Thanks Tony, nice to see finally see a well informed post regarding the UCI tag decisions.

I received the, apparently, ‘acceptance’ response from UCI regarding TAG and I’m a little confused to learn that this was the acceptance letter. I was expecting a rejection letter since I’m an engineering major and I certainly listed that I would not have all my prereqs listed on assist.org completed by the end of spring. And their requirements for tag to their School of Engineering states:
• Complete additional approved courses specified for selected major as articulated
at [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org)

@Tony

What if you won’t be a “full” time student?

I had 5 of my AP tests count for about 28 units, so I didn’t need to take that many classes during my 2 years of college. I’ve almost never had more than 16 units( or whatever it is for a full time student) per semester.

Do you think it’s necessary to take more classes and be a “full time” student? or just take the classes that I listed? (that should be about 11-12 units)

@Anonymousity

I, too, received the apparent acceptance letter. And since I was looking mostly for UCSD, I didn’t have many of UCI’s pre-req’s (the Engineering courses from the CC) I mean, I have my physics/chem/calculus done as well as the IGETC. But those minor engineering classes they offer, I didn’t bother to take them. UCD rejected me because of those classes. I wonder if UCI will do the same after we send out the November (regular) apps in. :S

@ Kaboos20.

You have 57 units from 4-yr-college but you got tagged? Okay then, now I worry. Because I thought I got rejected because I have too many 4-yr college units other than cc units. Now it seems maybe I have other problems. What’s your major by the way? How many cc units do you have alone?

@davidindabible: Actually a full time student is listed as “12 or more semester units”. So it might be possible that you HAVE been a full time sudent without even knowing it.

That said, most UC’s like to see their prospective students maintaining full time status throughout their two years at a CCC unless that student has a very good reason why he/she was not full time.

This is due to the UC system wanting to see if you are really ready for the responsibility and difficulties that a full time UC student will experience.

I want to also clear up one thing about “pre-reqs” as I see a lot of people talking about them. The minimum “pre-reqs” for a certain major at a certain UC are NOT the smae as the ASSIST.org “pre-reqs”!

For example: to transfer as a biology/life science major to UCSD there are 13 classes listed on ASSIST.org as “pre-reqs” for the major. These are the maximum “pre-reqs”. In other words, completion of all of these will make you highly competitive to the UC and also allow you to graduate in two years after transfer.

However, the actual number of “pre-reqs” nneded to transfer to UCSD, and for TAG, for this major is 9, not 13!

I did. However, now I have to inform them of my IP/planned course changes because I made changes to my major and schedule after I submitted my TAG.

I never recieved a denial or acceptance email from ucm or ucsc… It just says it’s still being reviewed on my app.

These were/are the expected release dates… Only UCM has diverged from this list

FALL 2011 Transfer Admission Guarantee decisions are beginning to come out:

Campus (TAG Decision Released)
Riverside (November 5)
Santa Barbara (November 8)
Irvine (November 10)
Davis (November 12 (a.m.))
Merced (November 12 (p.m.))
San Diego (November 15 (a.m.))
Santa Cruz (November 15 (p.m.))

So for ucm we find out on Monday? Cause I haven’t gotten results from them yet.
