Now that everything is submitted, should we be visiting top choices again? Going to events at the school? Emailing/ sending letters/ calling AOs? Anything we can do? Or just sit back and wait quietly until M10?
At this point in time, unless a school has asked you for an interview, (if they waived it previously), or are asking you for any additional materials, there is nothing you can do unless, it involves, getting extremely famous (like in the news, not just several thousand followers on social media) within the next two weeks in a way that makes you seem as a good person or a celebrity that a school would want.
At this point, just sit back, make sure your grades aren’t falling so that your admissions won’t be revoked. Learn something new, practice what you’re already good at, go outside, or do something that will keep you occupied while you pass the time. (That does NOT include staring at a countdown clock until M10 or rereading your admissions essays for every mistake that you think you made).
No.
You have done all you can do. Just wait it out.
All that you can do at this point is wait. Good luck.
I doubt this helps as coaches have pretty limited say…but we sent the coaches updates regarding my son’s performance in his winter sport.
@HMom16 depends on the school and it depends on the coach. Some coaches have a lot of pull! But you need to be one of their top recruits.
We sent a single update to admissions officers with latest accomplishments (new marking period grades, role in a film, etc.) that happened in the first two weeks after we submitted the applications.
Also, since my daughters have a strong interest in performing arts, we also attended winter musicals. Not sure attending musicals “helps” with admissions, but it certainly demonstrates interest. We were sure to let musical director, theater director, and admissions know we were planning to attend the shows. However, to be clear, we didn’t attend musicals to gain favor with admissions, we went because we thought it would be a fun night and another chance to see the school and perhaps talk with parents before the show and during intermission.
Thank you! For each school, we visited, toured (one school twice), and interviewed. We went to NYC receptions, we sent a couple of updates. I feel like we put everything into it. However, we have not been able to go back for shows, musicals, art shows, sports, etc. I hope this doesn’t reflect poorly.
Sometimes I wish the schools would stop reaching out with various notes, invites and other assorted things. My kiddo doesn’t want to contact folks even at the top choice. Thinks it is insincere. Hey they met me and I got all of my questions answered. I don’t want to send emails and ask questions I already know the answer to or could find on the web. Not every kid does. Kiddo mentioned that s/he thinks that the parents are actually writing all of the notes and sending it from the kids account. LOL. And no isn’t stressed about March 10. Whatever will be will be kind of attitude. Hey if they don’t accept me, they don’t accept me. I did all that I could. (except write those notes).
I agree. The invites are overwhelming and make us feel like we have to go to show we are interested. It’s also hard because they are mostly evening events, and we don’t have the extra money to be paying for hotel rooms, etc.
