Anything left?

Hey guys

so I am currently in a pickle. I'm currently a high school student and I am going to be a senior next year. So this is literally the last summer before sending out college applications.

I screwed up alot. I missed ALL the deadlines for summer programs and literally I cannot find any because it's already halfway through summer.

I currently live in the Las Vegas area of Nevada and I literally cannot find ANYTHING to do. UNLV has classes that already started.

The only thing I am doing this summer is taking an online German course. I fear that's pretty much nothing. My parents are literally yelling at me to join some sort of program, and we are all frustrated that I can't join any program. I fear that my future is at stake if I don't join some sort of program, because no college wants someone who did absolutely nothing during the summer. I feel like throwing up right now..

Can anyone help? What should I do with the rest of my summer? I was thinking of writing a book. Or maybe taking some online college credit course. Or anything online. The thing is I cannot find anything.

Please help, I need to do something worthwhile for college applications this summer or I probably will not get accepted to any college I want to go to.

Don’t worry about summer programs! Most of them want to suck your money anyway. Try developing your own interests - practice soccer every day, join a gym, go job hunting, babysit… You can always put those on a college app!

Agree with looking for a job. Colleges think that is a worthwhile way to spend your time! One of D’s friends just got a job this week, so it is possible to find one in the middle of the summer in some locations. I think you are pretty much out of luck on programs given the late date… Also agree that volunteering in some area where you have a genuine interest can be a great experience. You could start that next week if you look around… depending on your interests, check with the library, local museums, hospitals, parks, summer programs for kids.
