AOI in Athletic Training

S got accepted, but letter states "matriculated undergraduate". His SOLAR says AOI in AT.

Little confused about the terminology. Hoping someone here can clarify. Is he in the program or not?

Also, still waiting for financial aid notice. SOLAR only says "you have not yet been offered a financial aid......"

AOI means “Area of Interest” and that there is some reason you have not been directly accepted into the major. There are certain classes you will need to take when you get here that will allow you to declare the major, and they can help you with this at orientation.
Financial aid packages will be up starting the 28th of March.

Thanks, Megan. By orientation, do you mean freshman orientation? It might be safer for him to go to a school where he’s accepted to AT outright since he might not have an opportunity at SB

I just looked at my S admittance letter and it says the same thing - AOI in Athletic Training. I’d like to know the answer to your question too a430qt. My S was also admitted to other colleges where he was definitely admitted into a Pre-med program. This may sway his decision. Thanks for bringing that to light for me.

Yes, freshman orientation over the summer. A long as he gets the required grades in the classes needed, he should be accepted into the program. Many students are AOI because they need to take certain clases (http://healthtechnology.stonybrookmedicine.edu/programs/at/admissions/requirements</a> here are the requirements) they should have no problem in being accepted into the program upon completion.
