AP AB Calculus

yeah, 70 is a good sweet spot... on the practice exams i took, the minimum was 75

You're too hard on yourself Peytoncline - a 4 is excellent! Trust me, by the time you get to college you'll probably be wanting to take that intro to chem. class again anyway - I took AP Chem last year and I don't remember ANYTHING.

But to each his own i guess

Anyone use "Be Prepared for the AP Calculus Exam" (book)? I went through it the week before and it helped a ton, though mostly on MC. Let's pray that the on the graph of stupid mistakes s(x), s(x) has a minimum for x = u and x = me.

unless you're aiming for ultra selective schools (like an Ivy or something) most colleges take 3s. You may not get as much credit as a 4/5, but credit is credit. So try not to be hard on yourself too too much. Chemistry sucks anyway xD

I can't remember how many people it was that got tickets. I think it was like 700 or something....simple integral approximation.

I used the "Master AP Calculus" by Peterson's and it was AMAZING. It went through every necessary concept in an efficient but thorough way. I tried Barron's and was disgusted when they didn't even list the 2nd Fundamental Thm. of Calculus yet have 40 problems of review at the end of each section (way to excessive). I was able to got through Master in 2 days too :)

dr/owned, you make it seem like it's just sooooo easy! of course, simple integrals, why didn't I think of it lol

But I don't know why I'm caring about it so much - my college gives the same credit to 3s, 4s, and 5s, so there's no need to be stressed :/

Me too but my bro got a 5 2 years ago so I can't let him beat me :)

Honestly, I was panicked yesterday but I realized that once you memorize the 15 diff and 15 integration formulas it is really very easy....just rearrange the stuff and make substitutions until it fits one of the equations you memorized.

lol, well there is a sense of pride in knowing you got a 5 XD

Yeeeeeeah I have no idea what you're talking about, but since it involves memorization I'm going to assume I was doomed from the start on that question...

But the hardest part of the test is waiting for your scores!!!

IMO, good multiple choice, bad free response. I think I screwed up badly enough on that to get a 3. :P

that was such an easy test...

I wish I took it :(. I need to wait for the make up, which may even be harder! But I've hear the MC is easy and FR is death.

Haha, glad I'm not the only one who thought that. I was afraid everyone else would be like, "Oh, it's so easy!" and mess up my much-needed curve. :D

I left quite a few blank, most if not all were BC topics. I drew pictures and wrote "this is sparta" for the series frq's. So that comes out to a 3 or 4 on BC and 4 or 5 on AB subscore.

:D

Lol, I seriously considered writing "This is Sparta!" somewhere. I joined the Facebook group. I'll have to do it on one of my writing intensive frqs.

MC was pretty good, but I think I bombed the FRQs.

Wow, did all of you really find it to be that ridiculously easy? If so, I'm screwed. >.<;;

Remember that even I considered the FRQs "fun" meaning hard enough to pique my intellect. And the ppl on this board represent a more elite part of hs students.

yeah, i know most take 3's, but i want to go to northwestern (evanston, IL), and they take mostly 5's only (some 4's, but for less credit).... the only one they take a 3 in is chem (3 and 4 get 1 credit and a 5 gets 3 credits)... but i'm hoping the if i do well on all my ap exams, plus my 34 act, then i should get in nicely.

i took ap human geo last year... didn't study at all and got a 3 (could have easily gotten a 4 if i studied more, but northwestern only takes a 5 for that one anyway, so it doesnt matter)

I have seen loads of kids get 5's on 7 AP exams and still not get into their top choice schools. Adcoms really only care about SAT and GPA. Period.

Yeah, I didn't even report my scores last year :P

Was anyone else working the entire time on the FRQs (not even double checking)? It was so handy having a digital watch with a countdown timer to pace myself.
