I’m a freshman at UTSA and am trying to apply as a transfer to UT for spring next semester. With AP and dual credit, I’ll have 40 credit hours but this semester, I’m taking 16 hours.
Since I’m applying as a transfer and need 30 credit hours, will UT accept my AP scores and dual credit transcript and count that towards the required 30 hours that I need? BTW I’m not part of the CAP program if that makes a difference.
You need to take that question directly to the transfer office at UT Austin.
Don’t be hasty. It depends on what you want to major in. If you want to do liberal arts, then it shouldn’t be much of a problem. If you want to do something employable like business, computers, engineering, nursing, etc, you should wait and take the prerequisites BEFORE applying, and make sure you have a near 4.0. Otherwise you will most likely be screwed and be forced to transfer back to UTSA. For instance, if you’re an existing student at UT, and you’re not already admitted into the business program as a freshman, you have about an 11% chance of getting into McCombs school of business. Those stats are published proudly on the UT website.
I will be on the premed track for public health and UT wants us to take bio and chem classes at UT but I do have credit general chemistry and both my advisor and UT advising told me I should focus on the core curriculum first
