Hello there,
Recently I had found out that AP Art History and Euro are changing the year I am supposed to take them. However, I wanted to know how much these tests will change, and if some old prep books (Annotated Mona Lisa) will still suffice for AP Art History, since there aren’t that many resources that are out there for AH anyway.
I heard that AP Euro will be changed to look like APUSH 2015 in some ways, is this true?
Also, any good prep books you’ve used before?
Thanks.
I took both this year. AFAIK, neither test is changing drastically, at least not like Bio and Chem did a couple of years ago.
Art History is focusing on 250 works of art instead of ~500, and reducing the MCQ to 80 and the short essays to 4. Assuming you have a decent textbook, Annotated Mona Lisa is ideal for review. Anyway, like you said, there are not a lot of other options.
The AP Euro exam theoretically will focus more on critical thinking. The test design looks like it will be similar to USH with a decrease in MCQ (55 vs 80, each with 4 choices instead of 5) The DBQ remains intact. There will be 4 short essays and 1 long essay for the FRQ instead of 2 long essays. One downside is there looks to be no choice in the short essays. For Euro I did not use a review book, but some classmates felt strongly about Crash Course and Princeton Review. Whether the new editions will accurately reflect exam changes is unknown.
