haha, that test is going to be the worst. I'm just going to look at all the images in my book and read the descriptions once and I'll see how far I get (not very).

oh that will take FOREVER...is there any "good" review book that i can use to study?

maybe i should worry about art history after the ap spanish and ap stat test (i'll have 1 week to study for it, is that enough?)

I dont think I will study for it, as I learned all of the info I need for MC, and essays are just a test of BSing skills.

Haha. I'm so screwed for this test. Here's what I'm doing:

flash cards

study guide

I'll at least skim through the textbook. Reading it seems to be near impossible.

I've bought Barron's. Heard a lot of good things about it.

The Annotated Mona Lisa is also supposed to be excellent, but I didn't buy it.

My teacher is a bit unhelpful as well. She's planning for us to be learning til the day before the AP test. So not nice. Her study guides and Q cards (flashcards) have been really helpful though.

Week two Barron's for me.... I need to speed up. It's been good though, I remember most everything from the chapters I've done.
My course provider is paying Florida for the AP review... based on those results I believe I'd score high 3/low 4 with no prep. I've only read about three of the chapters in my actual textbook. Although, I really need a 5.
I'm so nervous, I'm a freshman.... this is my first AP, I don't like the class... I'm the only one in my school in it, and I have to take the test at another school. I'm afraid I'll fail... or get a 3.

The AP Art test is daunting, but don't freak out. It won't help you and, really, as long as you know the information you'll be fine. From what I heard from last year's students at my school, they got 3's without really studying. And no, a 3 is not bad. Supposedly, as long as you review Barron's (consider getting the Annotated Mona Lisa, although I haven't so I can't really give you any concrete feedback on it), you'll pass. :)

thanks guys...my teacher is on a maternity leave so she can't help us at all...we are just on renaissance right now...i think i'll go and buy the barron's review book and hope that i pass the exam....im SO SCREWED!

ppl who have already taken this exam, could u plz tell us what to study for? and how hard/easy the test actually is?

Whoa, wait. You're only on Renaissance? Or was that a typo? Because we covered that way back in January, and we're currently on early 20th century art.

We're finishing 20th today I believe.... Yeah... assuming you're moving according to the usual method... you guys are almost 1/2 the course behind. Renaissance... wow I hope that's just review

of course, check out the info on the Collegeboard site

well idk how hard the real test is, but when I took a mock halfway through the course, I missed a 5 by 2 points

yes, we just finished Renaissance. Unbelievable, right? what else could I do? now that my teacher is gone, i'm gonna have to self-study since there is no one else in my class who is taking everything seriously.

^^ mannerism, rococo, baroque, neoclassical, realism, romanticism, impressionism, post impressionism, modernism (cubism, expressionism, fauvism, etc.) post impressionism

I failed… pretty miserably…

Yeah I feel like I did pretty badly on it too. It’s really hard to tell though because the free response questions can get pretty subjective.

tbh i thought it was easy… frq’s weren’t bad at all either and mc’s were pretty straight forward with the exception of a few… going for a 5 :]

My school does not offer AP Art History, but I am highly interested in taking the test. Since my school is not partnered with a Virtual High School, all of the credited online courses I’ve found are very far out of my budget. Does anyone know any good online courses to take this with?

If not, do I -need- to take a course for this class, or will I be able to get a 4 or 5 with sufficient self-study? (This seems most likely for me due to cost.)

REA, Barrons, and the Annotated Mona Lisa seem like popular choices. Any other books or habits reccommended for self-study?

I’ve never done a class like this on my own before, so any help is appreciated! =]

I realized some time last week that I think I bombed essay 1. Said something about St Lazare at Aucun that is true about Vezelay and only Vezelay and did a lot of other stuff.
So, maybe now I’ll get a 4. And cry. A lot.
There was also that one slide question on the MC, but I guess we can’t talk about those.

Millancad, there’s no need to freak out. Two years ago, I BSed the entire last essay because it was about postmodern works and my teacher didn’t get to cover it in class, I’m pretty sure I missed most of the points on that one, but I still ended up with a 5. so one essay and a couple of MC won’t hurt you that badly.
