Anybody here take it? Because I was thinking about taking it to fulfill the Art requirement at my school. iS it hard? Does it take a lot of work? Thanks!

It depends on the teacher. Basically you memorize a bunch of works of art and then answer questions and write about them.

i really liked the class when I took it (i think it was because my teacher was hilarious)
there wasn't any homework in my class and the tests were easy
if you hate art...i wouldn't recommend taking it but if you enjoy looking at art, you'll probably enjoy the class
i would ask people in your school about it

it sucks dont take it... unless you like art and art interpretation

I thought it was hard and I took it online o.O........ I liked the class, but just hard. To do well on the AP exam, you REALLY need to understand everything thoroughly.

okay, had no idea it was that hard.
So... is it time consuming like you need to spend hours on it to do well or would it be better to do some introductory art course to fulfill the requirement( i suck at art)?

However, I do enjoy analyzing art just don't want to spend too much time...

Oh yeah people at school are NO help, they claim you need to redraw the paintings and use the same techniques the artists used to fully understand the history behind it ... ???

woah no definitely not...that may be true for your class but not for the AP test
This is basically what you need to know:
Time periods - characteristics of each time period and which century
major artists - major artworks and characteristics of artists and art pieces
and technique (there are very few questions on this on the AP test)
and new innovations - for example the Pantheon used coffered ceiling that was made out a special lightweight cement...
earlier time periods like Greek and Roman you need to know types of columns etc. and the AP test DOES NOT test on American, Spanish, Columbian, Hindu, Chinese art (a lot of test review books include this but don't waste your time)
yeah there is a lot of information but the curve of the APAH test is really generous about 65% - 70% correct and you have a 5
the test is hard and the makers know that students cannot know every painting and every artist so it's fair in my eyes...(i only studied a week for the AP test...i'll tell you how i did when i get my score) :]
hope this helps

Pretty boring class. I'm taking it at a community college right now and unless you have an enthusiastic teacher, the class will probably drag on for a year.
