AP Bio...hmmmmmm

This is really long, but you don't have to read the first paragraph, you can just look at the question.

Yeah, so I'm a freshman and we were doing our schedules for next year. So my parents FORCED me to do AP Bio. Our teachers are supposed to sign off on our next years classes (basically their signature recommends us for a class) and she wouldn't sign off on AP Bio. She said it would be a really bad idea for me to take. Both 1st and 2nd quarters I have had a really low A in science and tech bio (91-93%). I usually understand concepts faster than everyone else, but those few times I don't understand, the concept has to be beat into my brain. (Ex. the teacher spent 30 min of class explaining to me about how we get energy from plants, I had to read the chapter on the Krebs cycle 4 times before I got it) I personally don't care for biology too much. The other choice is Microbiology/Physiology, which I would love to take, and my teacher is willing to recommend me for. But now my parents say I can do Microphysio if I want. So the real question is

Take AP Bio, have to study a lot lot lot and ask millions of questions, and not be with my friends, and get extra GPA points

or

Take Microphysio, be with lots of friends, little studying, easy concepts, but no extra GPA points, and this means I would be behind my classmates in class rank and valedictorian and stuff because most of them are taking AP Gov (I wanted to take it but my teacher said i wasn't "entusiastic" enough about history so he wouldn't sign off?

Oh yeah, and how hard is AP Bio. Keep in mind I'll be a soph, not a junior or senior.

It sounds like you already know...you basically said you don't like Bio but would love to take microphysio, so do that. Your grades in a class will be better if you are actually interested in the subject, anyways. I'm in AP Bio now, and I have to work really hard to maintain the grades that I want- but I don't really mind because I really like studying it. I can't imagine having to learn (a.k.a. memorize) all of the info if I didn't like it. Some kids in my class took the class because they just wanted to add another AP to the list, and they hate it. Hope this helped!

the ap isnt that hard, the grade really depends on the teacher, and i know alot of ppl that take AP bio as freshmen

being in an easy class w/ friends isnt the best reason to choose a class tho

but if u dont want to, dont do it

AP Biology

AP BIO....

i found the course easy

AP Bio. Take it. In high school, do nothing because of "friends." this is your future! You'll like AP Bio, promise. take it.

Ap bio as freshman is impossible at our school. we need to take earth science, bio and chem before any ap sciences so yeah. and in my school ap bio is the hardest ap believe or not (harder than even like calc or physics etc) but its the best teacher in the school by far. i would definitely go for ap bio.
on the side...i love how you said your parents said you can take microphysio like you need permission. my parents have no clue what classes i take.

the real question is... why you have such lame parents?

damn im glad i have parents who actually respect me enough to allow me to make my own decisions

i love ap bio now...but we can only take it as seniors.

so CCers agree u need to take bio...who woulda guessed
