I'm kinda debating with myself whether I should take AP Bio or Chem next year for my senior year.

I heard Bio is a lot of memorization, and that Chem is one of the hardest AP courses out there. I'm currently like regular Chem at the moment (which is what I'm taking this year); is this a good reason to opt for AP Chem next year instead of Bio?

AP Bio for sure. I loved that class but it does require a lot of memorization and general knowledge of stuff. But, on the essays on the AP test, you just put what you know and don’t get penalized for putting stuff that isn’t correct; you may even get points for stuff you weren’t completely sure about! Plus, some of the labs are pretty fun/interesting.

^In that case, I would recommend biology. Also, there tends to be a greater degree of chemistry involved in AP Biology than there is biology in AP Chemistry.

I would recommend AP Chemistry. Being a Microbiology major, you will get plenty of exposure to biology in college. It’s not like taking AP Biology is an advantage because you will still have to study in College in order to have all of your information fresh in your mind and ace the tests. If you do need to review, you can simply review from a Cliffs book over the summer, which shouldn’t take too long. AP Chemistry on the other hand is much more difficult in terms of understanding topics so taking a class will be beneficial. Plus, having a strong Chemistry background will be of a great advantage in college.

^AP Chem for the same reason
Also, even though it is one of the hardest AP’s, since you have just taken honors chem, it will be a LOT easier for you to take it next year rather than wait an year and then take AP Chem
