This is for my senior year. My school is offering Environmental Science, Physics B, Chemistry, Biology [all AP’s] next year. I already took Physics B this year so I’m left with the remaining three.

Chemistry and Biology is 2 periods long, which would fill 8 and 9 up completely. I am going to choose Chemistry as my first choice, but if I can’t get in, I must choose between Biology and Environmental Science. If for some reason, I don’t make it into Chem, I can either take Biology for 2 periods OR take Envrionmental Science for 1 period and Adv. Orchestra for 1 period.

I hope this wasn’t confusing. Do you think I should take AP Biology to fill up periods 8 and 9 OR take AP Environmental Science period 8 AND Adv. Orchestra period 9?

ehh..not that i know anything about enviromental science but...if you have time to study and stuff...then biology is the way to go....then again if u dont have time..i would advise against it.....

I took AP biology and i know it varies from school to school, but after taking the AP test (and finding that it was so easy) i really found out how much i learned in just one year

"i really found out how much i learned in just one year"

exactly my point

Biology is also looked upon much more favorably by colleges if you care

I suggest taking AP Biology. Personally, I thinks it's much more interesting than Environmental Science.

AP Bio.

AP Environmental Science is for tree huggers. Colleges hate those.

Well, I'm going to take AP Biology nexy year, yeah it's the way to go! Also, I'm going to self-study AP Environmental Science, since it's easy and I find it's interesting! Since eventually one day, when we totally funk up our environment and the tree huggers will say I told you so!

If you want some easy leeway during your senior year, then enviro. If you want some AP scores colleges would accept better etc then go for Bio. I had both this year (before that, i had AP chemistry)

Colleges don't HATE AP environmental science, but it's not as recognized as AP Biology. Some colleges don't take the AP scores... AP enviro is REALLY easy to study by yourself especially if this subject interests you (I personally find it quite fun and easy so)

This is exactly why you should take your requirements early in your high school career (i took care of everything by junior year)... so you can take as many AP classes as you can your junior/senior year...(all my classes senior year were AP's)

Oh btw also consider your teachers. If your bio teacher sucks and you think you can study bio better by yourself (our school's case... more people passed when the teacher didn't do ANYTHING. Now she teaches and the kids who would've studied by themselves that would've passed fails) BUT colleges would like to see AP bio better

Yeah. I didn't have much room for my graduation requirements (ie. art/health). I have taken music for 3 years, because I like orchestra.

^ same here, i took art all 4 years. I still had room for my requirements though... i think at our school if you take 3 years of band it counts as a PE credit (we only need one year) I took health my freshman year and PE my junior year.. my humanities my junior year too and i was done with all the extras. I had other electives too so...

AP Bio I thought was a pretty good course, I would recommend it.

I suggest finding out from students who have just taken the AP for each subject and see how well the class prepared htem for it and how good the teacher is. From then, you should decide which one to do.
