I know the two classes are very different but what are the specific differences?
Both tests differ in what content you need to know. The AP exam tests how well you apply the knowledge you’ve learned, and has application based questions. The SAT II is more content-based, and covers a bit more specific info than the AP exam (such as embryology and plant biology). They’re equal in rigor because the questions are different in format, but still difficult. You really need to know alot more detail for the SAT II than you need to for the AP exam.
I kid you not, the AP exam is all logic, but the SAT II is a completely different story. I’d say the SAT II is more like the old AP exam.
The AP exam also has a free-response and grid-in section, but the SAT II doesn’t.
The Campbell textbook is an excellent resource for studying for the SAT II, but not so much for the AP exam; it is very detail oriented, and that’s not how the AP exam is like at all.
thanks! the common sense part of the AP test actually makes it harder for me. I am good at memorization not at application which is why it is hard. Guess I have a lot of studying to do this time of year.
