So I am currently a junior in high school. I was able to take AP Bio this year, but instead, I stupidly took an easier biology course. Will colleges see this and think that I’m not taking challenging classes? Is it still possible to take the AP test without having taken the class? This is the first year my school offers AP classes, so I wasn’t really sure what I was getting myself into.
side note:
not sure if this is relevant or not but I am also taking physics, AP Calc BC and AP psych
It is very normal to take Bio, Chem, Physics (preferably at an honors level) and then take at least one AP version of those. Next year take an AP science (Chem, Bio or Physics)
Do you find your current class too easy/slow paced?
AP bio is a very time consuming class that requires a lot if memorizing so think of your strengths and I’d you feel up to it, ask your bio teacher what S/he thinks and your GC the drop/add policy (if you’re in over your head in AP Bio will you be allowed to switch into another class?)
If you can drop it easily and you feel up to the task, I don’t see what you have to lose. If the drop/add policy is strict, it’s riskier.
Once you have all the parameters in hand - today, preferably:) - make your choice.
