In my opinion, the SAT 2 was more difficult than the AP. I spent a ton of time reviewing photosynthesis/respiration + animal systems for the SAT 2, and I'm serious when I say I don't remember a SINGLE question about the process of photosynthesis or respiration, or a SINGLE question about the circulatory, respiratory (except that one diffusion question), muscular, digestive, excretory, nervous systems on the SAT 2. I hated the test, because I don't think that that survey represents what anyone in Bio should have learned.

Honestly, I think that the June SAT II was more difficult than the MC section of this year's AP test, for me anyways. I was surprised, especially when last year the US History SAT II was so much easier than the APUSH exam.

Hey, I took the 2006 AP Biology and SAT II Biology tests.

From my experience, I definently prefer AP. AP is more "abstract" thinking. Some MC and definently the essays require you to go back on background info you know to formulate the correct answer.

This is how I was taught to think in many of my classes, so I really did enjoy the AP test =)

However, the SAT II is not as focused, seemingly "random" questions that are really just ....factual. Not really that much abstract thinking required. In fact, a lot of intelligent AP Biology students tend to "over-think" the SAT II questions, getting it wrong. They might go back and reflect on all of the previous knowledge and attempt to answer the question based on their conclusion from thinking it out. SAT II is definently not like that, and I know for a fact that I wasn't the only one who "over-analyzed' questions.

In the end, SAT II is easier after an AP test, but that might throw some people off. SAT II is just facts, factual stuff, AP requries some more "thinking".

AP bio is harder than SAT II bio, but bio is easy in general. you can expect that the AP test is harder since it is made for the AP course, whereas some of my friends have taken the SAT II bio after honors bio and thought that it was fine
