Hi everyone,

How do the AP Exams, namely US History and Biology, compare to the SAT II in those subjects? Which is harder? If I got a 5 on both exams, should I be good for the SAT II?

Thanks.:)

I cannot speak to Bio, but I can to USH. I got a 5 on the AP test and an 800 on the SAT II. I took my SAT II the week before AP tests to motivate myself to study before the AP test and apparently it worked out very well.

The SAT Subject was more specific and detailed than the AP test. The SAT also had less of the analytical questions than the AP test. These questions include, for example, to connect the dots of why something happened. Neither of them seemed to be different in difficulty, simply a different style of testing. The only reason the SAT Subject may seem easier is the lack of essays.

Thank you so much, Jalmoreno. I appreciate the information, and congrats on those perfect scores!

Don’t know about Biology either, but a 5 on APUSH should guaranteed you 700+ on the subject test.

I took SAT II for US before the AP test to see what areas I needed to work on; I did not study at all. That being said, I got a 780 walking in cold and spent the last few days reviewing some of my weaker topics for the AP. 5’d it.

For bio, we read through all of Campbell’s. 'Nuff said. 5 and 800 with no prep.

Honestly, I found the AP examination easier for US. I took SAT II a week before, got a 640 (ouch, probably won’t submit) but somehow obtained a 5 on the AP exam. But it sounds like you probably know your stuff better than I did, so you should score well
