Which book will give me a very detailed, strong understanding of Cal AB. It could be a textbook or a reviewbook. Thanks.

To pass the AP exam, you just need The Princeton Review: Cracking the AP Calculus AB and BC exams, as well as the online FRQs from AP Central.

I stepped out of my Geometry Honors class last year with my eyes set on AP Calc AB test. I used videos from [Khan Academy](http://khanacademy.org/) for precal and calculus. I also went to the library and checked out two old AP calculus books and taught myself pretty much all of the coursework in 1 week (not to be expected). I then bought the new barron’s AP calc book and worked through every section as the date got closer. There were conflicts with my school about self-studying calculus, and I ended up not taking the exam (I was really upset) but I had made 5s on 2/2 Barron’s practice tests.

A note about checking out calculus books from the library:

Go for the ones that look pretty old and used. That means that library has had them forever and can’t throw them out because people keep checking it out (because it’s presumably the better of the books).

Also make sure that whatever book you are using includes all of the concepts for AP Calculus. A lot of books contain tons of extra information that is nice to know, but not needed for the AP exam.
