AP Calc AB (calc 1) credit??

Hey guys,

So I’m aware that many of you have already had orientation. Mine is coming up next week, but the answers to this question is all over the place: What did I truly need to exempt out of Calculus 1? My friend who went to orientation last week said the engineering college told her she needed a 5 on the exam to exempt. However, on the UCF website, it says a 3,4,5 would exempt out of calc 1. I scored a 4 on the exam so I assumed I was set this entire time. For confirmation, I even emailed the First Year Advisors and they told me 3,4,5 as well. For you guys who have already gone to orientation, did they take your AP credit if you scored a 3 or 4?

Not sure if your question was answered but you need a 5 to move into calc 2. A score of 3 or 4 places you into calc 1

I believe an individual college or program can set the bar on this. Some programs do not want to exempt because it may have been their experience that the AP class does not prepare the student adequately for the college level and/or wants to refresh material.
