AP Calculuc AB and Stern

I read somewhere on the NYU Stern website that they do not accept any AP Calculus credit regardless of score and that advanced placement standing will only be used for taking a higher level math course. Does this mean I should just not take the AP Calc exam at all (and save $82) or does it mean to take it and be placed in a higher level math class next year?

Well, you can choose not to take the AP Calc exam; you'll just have to take the same class all over again when you get to Stern. If you do take the AP exam and score high enough, then Stern will take that and you can go on to take Calc II.

If you're sure you wouldn't want to take any further math classes or anything that would need Calc II and beyond as a prereq, and don't mind relearning material, then you can forego the AP exam guiltfree.
