Is anyone planning to take Calculus I at Stern this fall, even though you already have or are going to be earning credit for AP calc? Does this sound like a good idea? Im thinking that its better to take an easier math course for a better GPA, but if a lot of other people follow this logic, the grading curve might be pretty intense. What do you guys think?

And what about APs like english literature, where you are only able to earn elective credit? What exactly does that entail? Mainly, what are the benefits (if any) for applying AP credit in which you only recieve elective credits?

i probably will start off with calc I or II, most probably got credit for BC. if you are planning to double major, you are going to need all those elective credits for your second major. I am pretty sure that the Calc class is not graded on a curve, Calc is taught by CAS faculty as it is a prerequisite to most business courses. only benefit I see of AP credit, is that you get to graduate earlier. Only AP I wish I had taken but didn't was a science.

you don't get credit for calc

i meant i got 4 or 5

doesn't matter whether you got 5 or 6.. or even 99

NYU doesn't honor credits for all math and econ classes

"doesn't matter whether you got 5 or 6.. or even 99

NYU doesn't honor credits for all math and econ classes"

CALM down. I never said I was going to get credits. By saying I got credit, I meant, I either scored 4 or 5. I am well aware of Stern's policy regarding Calc, hence I am taking calc i or II.

Does anyone know CAS's policy regarding AP Calc?

^ I was under the impression that we get 4 credits.

In CAS, AP Calc AB counts as Calculus I, a four credit course. AP Calc BC counts as Calculus 2, also a four credit course.

the natsci prereq is 4 credits right? and if we do choose to opt out of natsci with AP credit, do we just take an elective course in place of that, or are there other possibilities?

correct, any elective you want.

Does anyone know whether NYU gives out credit for the following subjects:

AP United States History
AP Chemistry
AP Calculus (if we're not in Stern)
AP Literature
AP Government??

and is there a link from the school's website that addresses all this?

help ASAP so i could panic or....just panic less...

i don't understand the map requirement satisfied and the course equivalent idea, will someone please explain?
