I’m going to be a junior next year and I’m taking AP Calculus BC.
Do you think it’s a good idea to take AP Calculus AB exam in a senior year or it is unnecessary?
Thank you!
If you’re taking BC as a junior, when you take the BC test, it will include an AB subscore as well. So you get 2 tests for the price of one.
I’m not sure what you are asking wrt taking the test as a senior. Are you asking about taking the AP test twice? Or were you thinking that you would take the BC test as a junior and AB as a senior?
Almost certainly unnecessary, assuming that you earn the same score on the AB test as the AB subscore on the BC test.
Seems like the only scenario where it could help would be if the college you attend give you higher credit and placement for your AB subscore than your BC score, but only accepts the AB test rather than the AB subscore.
Sorry for the confusion.
I was asking if it’s a good idea to take the BC test as a junior and AB as a senior.
But from your answer, it seems that it’s unnecessary.
Thank you!
The only benefit, and it is minimal at that, is that the AB test will count as another exam for AP awards. But other than that, it’s a total waste of time and money.
