<p>I am a sophomore at a boarding school and I have to decide the courses to take next year.
For math, I can take Ap calculus Ab or AP Calculus BC. But I am not very good at math even though I have taken honor Algebra II and Honor Precalculus. And I am thinking about taking AP calculus AB instead of BC. But I am afraid that my admission will get hurt if I do not take the most rigorous math class. So my qustion is "</p>

<p>No. In my school we are not allowed to take BC once w etake AB. That is why i am planning to take AP Stat in my senior year.</p>
<p>Take whatever you feel most comfortable with. I was accepted with the following track:</p>
<p>Honors Algebra I, Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra II, Precalculus Mathematics (post-secondary), Calculus I (post-secondary).</p>
<p>I was on what is called a “normal” course until my last year when I decided to break precalc and calc into semesters at my local community college. It’s not so much what classes you take, just perform well.</p>

<p>If you don’t feel you’re that good at math, just take AB. I took BC this year and have regretted every minute. 
I feel like I would have done so much better in AB, since we go so fast I hardly ever really learn anything. I’m also practically the only one in that class who doesn’t want to be an engineer… lol.</p>
<p>Taking any calculus as a junior is impressive. But what it really comes down to is… don’t try to do more than you think you can handle.</p>
<p>I’m a senior, currently enrolled in AB. I was also accepted recently. So don’t worry – taking AB will not “ruin your chances” of getting into college. You should take the math you’re most comfortable with – if you don’t feel like you’re that great at math, AB is probably the better choice.</p>
<p>I think you are getting good advise. However…I am going to challenge your assessment of yourself. In talking with your current teachers, do they remark that they want to encourage you to take BC? You may be ready for the class…My DD-current NU student-not in Premed-or-Engineering–however–she was encouraged to take BC as a Junior. She earned an A, and a 5 on her AP exam. Most of her friends who also were A students elected to take the AB…and she was 1 of only 5 Juniors in the class. It was challenging-a lot of hard work…is it worth it to you to find out? -APOL-a mom</p>
<p>BC is hard… DO IT & CHALLENGE YOURSELF!</p>
<p>BC=AB+ (polar equations + Series)</p>
<p>You’ll learn the same thing (with some little erroneous things), BC is set at a faster pace. And the AP credit is essentially the same for both (4 or 5 and you can get placed out of MATH 220 & 224)</p>

<p>Im taking BC this year and it definately gave me a reality check. I’ve always gotten high As in math with minimal effort. Then I got to BC, where getting an A is often a struggle, especially when you fall behind or neglect some of the assignments. But I definately think it will make a nice transition for college, and I’m glad I took the more rigorous course.</p>
