AP Calculus AB or BC?

I am a sophomore at a boarding school and I have to decide the courses to take next year.
For math, I can take Ap calculus Ab or AP Calculus BC. But I am not very good at math even though I have taken honor Algebra II and Honor Precalculus. And I am thinking about taking AP calculus AB instead of BC. But I am afraid that my admission will get hurt if I do not take the most rigorous math class. So my qustion is "

If you think you aren’t that good at math and you don’t enjoy it, you shouldn’t take BC, plain and simple. I didn’t even take calculus at all and I got into Tufts, and most of my friends applying to top schools are now taking calculus SENIOR year. The fact that you’re taking calculus your junior year is an impressive feat within itself, no matter if it is AB or BC.

Also, sophomore year is really too early to worry about college like this. Wait until junior year, and don’t stress so much over trivial matters like this.

i took AP calc AB as a senior and i got in, so you should be fine as long as you perform well

UHHHHH why is this on the Tufts forum?

^ that. Plus why would you take BC before AB? (Take AB).

What light said, and also - acceptd, in my school, you can take BC and skip AB if you do well in pre-calc.

Yes, the answer to this question is highly dependent on your particular school. For a lot of high schools, students can take AB or BC, but not both. Some schools don’t offer BC. And for some schools, you can opt for AB instead of BC and still be admitted to MIT.

Ah, I see (sorry i’m not informed on what BC covers, my crappy school only offered AB, haha). But yeah, probably smart to take AB if you don’t think your math skills are that great in the first place.
