AP Calculus AB

Haha wow I love how not one person has even said the Free Response was average.

Free response was insane. Even the MC was harder than usual. I skipped 6 and I know I got 1 wrong so far.

oh my god ...

our class broke into semi-hysterical laughter/semi-complete and utter DESPERATION about five minutes into the free response... i needed my calculator so badly during the NON calculator half...

during the f.r. The rest of my class just laughed. there was one point where our proctor said we had 10 minutes left and we could go back to section A, and the whole class burst out laughing cause it was just so hard.

after leaving the m.c. i thought i would definitly get a 5.. but then after the free response im praying for a 3 to look respectful.. my college doesnt accept anything but a 5.

HAH I KNOW.. I WAs like.......

"did they switch the sections by accident" it seemed like i needed my calculator on the non calculator part and i didnt need my calculator for the calculator part..

like.. WOW though

Ok so am i the only person out there who thought the MC was harder than the Free Response. I mean yes the FR was difficult but I at least felt all of my answers warranted at least some credit. I'm just mad because i read a question wrong so i had to go back and redo it and as a result didnt get to 6(c). Oh well. I think my grade will be lowered because of the MC not the FR though

you didnt need your calculator to do area and volume?

I'm kicking myself because I only skipped two on MC, and I know that I probably made a lot of careless errors, in addition to stretching my work to make guesses that could be wrong. But regardless, I was feeling preettyy confident between the break, too!

On our midterm, my projected grade was a 4, maybe a 5. I thought today's MC was so-so, but then the FRQ. Just wow. I did miserably. I crashed and burned. I wanted to cry and give up.

What made it harder is that no one else around me seemed to be particularly unnerved. I would have liked everyone to have started laughing and ***-ing around me but it didn't happen until after the exam. There was a lot of "OMG THAT WAS SO HARD." So it looks like the curve is going to be generous. I hope.

Of course, even with the generous curve, I probably did HORRIBLY on the FRQs where as other people just did poorly. So the curve's not saving me now!

Our proctor asked if we would like the extra 4 minutes and we just started laughing. She asked if we want to check over our answers and one kid told her that there is no point in reviewing a blank sheet.

I had the PR Calc Review book and this was nothing like it at all. Was there any book out there that was like this test. Also, my brother took the test last year and got a 4 but did not do well in the class whereas I did amazing in the class but thought this test was insane.

no offense to any of you,

but everyone said it was really hard

so i hope that everyone basically bombed it and got all of it wrong, no partial credit,

which would make the curve crazy.. but if y'all got stuff right here and there then the curve wld be like EH.

sighs. the end

we took the 2003 test as a practice in class and i got 100/108--a very high 5. so i came into this test thinking i'd have an easy 5. oh god was i wrong...

part A of the MC was harder than any past test and seemed to test things that i didn't even think would be tested...i answered them all, but i'm estimating i got around 5 wrong.

part B of the MC was pretty easy. i finished it with a lot of time left and then proceeded to see how many words i could make from "particle." i got 61.

the FR WAS INSANE! it was NOTHING like any of the past tests. i swear this is all just a bad dream. i even did the last part of #1 wrong...

so instead of a 5, i'm hoping i get a 3. anything lower and i'll just go ahead and kill myself. :-)

I think Princeton was good for the multiple choice. The non calc part was harder than the Princeton book, but overall it was nothing compared to the monstrous free response.

avantgarden: I know what you mean!! At first I was ok and then I started getting realy nervous. I looked around the room and NOBODY had even the tiniest expression of frustration or nervousness ... which made me feel really stupid like I was the only one having trouble. As soon as we left the testing room though, ppl started talking about the difficulty, and I felt better =P

2good: Actually, I kind of hope everybody did as bad (and preferably worse) than me ... I'm sure alot of ppl think that. >_<

Actually ... did anyone think the FR was easy or alright? I kind of would like to know ^^;

Wow thanks guys I feel much better now that everyone said that the FR was almost impossible!! I skipped a few parts in FR, I knew most of it, MC was pretty simple I agree thank you so much u really have made( edit, I cant spell, thats why i like math, but i guess thats going down the drain after this test as well...AGHH!) me feel so much better!!!(lol little contradictory, but w/e) We will see in July...gotta study for chem and physics!!!!

I'm glad everyone thinks the free response was hard. At first, I thought I was the only one.

I found a way to calculate your raw AB score on the internet and I have been playing around with the numbers. I thought I did really well on the multi-choice and really bad on the free response. So, I played around with the numbers and at my worst I would be a high 4. I'm saying all this to say maybe it won't be as bad as we think. My class took practice exams, and my teacher thought that I would get a 5. Anybody who thought they were getting a 5, cheer up you may still have a chance.

Wow...everyone agreed with me about the FRQ's.

However, i'd encourage everyone not to worry. If you all thought the FRQ was hard chances are the curve will be very forgiving. Good luck, we'll see in July!

lol yeah ... I'm having a bit of hope now ^^ That's why I really want to know how many people thought the FR was easy lol

it's a little reassuring to know that i'm not the only one who screwed up. I was consistently getting low-to-high fives on the practice tests...then today rolled around.

MC I: harder than expected, but not horrible
MC II: not bad

FR I: not bad, but not great. i started struggling around the third problem.
FR II: goddamn it.

Good to know you guys found it as hard as I did! I thought the non-calc MC was a bit harder than previous tests (left like 10 blank but felt pretty confident about the rest), but found the calc part pretty easy. I'm hoping for a 3 at this point.

But yeah, the FR was insane. I was hoping for a slope field!
Alright, I need to stop worrying about Calc and start studying for APUSH. woo

Seriously, me too. The hand calculations in FRQ II were so annoying, and I started feeling really indignant. I usually don't feel like lashing out at others for my own incompetency, but I was tired and defeated...
