AP calculus bc

I'm in my junior year of high school and I'm doing the IB diploma and made the mistake of doing Math SL which is very easy. and I plan to study mechanical engineering; I realized now that it doesn't really help me and universities usually overlook it, it is too late to change to HL and I though maybe I could self study AP calculus BC. The thing is I have no prior knowledge about calculus but my math teacher would more than happy to help. So is it possible to take AP calculus AB this year ( I am already half way through the year) and throughout the summer ( won't do it's exam) and do AP calculus BC next year and do the exam.

Totally. A lot of schools go straight to AP Calculus BC, skipping AB. The stronger you are in math, the better off you’ll be.

Thank you I guess I’ll be doing it next year
