Math and my future

I'm currently a high school sophmore, next year I will be taking IB SL (an advanced pre-calc course) and my senior year then taking AP Calc AB. Is it at all possible to go to AP Calc BC without AB? Also, in my future I am looking into a career in Biochemical Engineering, will the fact that I (may) have not taken AP Calc BC be at all a detriment to my college application or college life?

Thanks

You could just self-study and take the AP Cal BC test...

I'm trying to do that this year and many, many people have done it on CC

Calc AB is not a prerequisite for BC whatsoever.

I for one am going to be taking BC without AB next year. (God help me!)

Right now i am taking Calculus BC and i did not take calculus ab or preculculus. Calaulus bc just has more stuff than calculus ab. i'll suggest for you to take bc.

Well at my school at least the second semister of Pre-Calc is Calculus 1A so most people go to BC unless they have a lot of trouble with it.

CB restricts people from taking both exams in the same year....
