AP Calculus BC

Did anyone else think the AP Calculus BC exam today was ridiculously easy?

I had 4EBP-R form test. I'm pretty sure I got all the MC I did correct (omitted 2), and the FRQs are kinda hard but I think I got enough points to break a 5.

How come there was so much Calculus I material on this exam when its a test of Calculus II? There was only one polar (which was SO easy), the series were so easy, there was no l'hospital, no hard improper integrals...Why was it so easy when the old exams were so hard?

I took 3 practice exams and this, and I agree with everyone that this was much easier. I think it's a combination of the College Board trying to fix the curve, and the fact that I focused much harder on this than any of my practice tests.

Correct me if I wrong, but didn't the first or second question on the MC (form R) involve using L'Hopital's Theorem (it was the limit of a certain function as x approached 0, with x being in the denominator)?

I agree... it was almost too easy

Yep I did use L'Hopital's at some point, I'm sure of it.

It was hard for me because I barely learned series. But the other stuff seemed easy. I hope it doesn't change the nice curve :P

i agree it was a lot easier. i didn't even think the free response was that difficult.

Both forms are the same, they just rearrange the order of the questions. Anyway, I thought the test was mixed. The calculator section was a joke, as were questions 2-5 of the Free Response, but I messed up on 1 and 6 and had some trouble on the non-calc.

OK for number 1 it gave you a depth function. I was debating whether to put it in the integral with the other two functions or to just multiply h(2) times the area...

Did anyone remember what the right way to do it was?

If you've done any of the past released MC's, you should have seen just about everything that appeared on today's MC. As for the FRQ, the calculator portion was completely generic. 4 was not of the typical type of problem dealing of a similar topic, 5 was similar to 07's 4, and 6 had parts that looked like they were simply recombined from old tests in a new fashion.

The MC might have been easier because there were no annoying computations. The BC parts of the exam were very basic, as a number of people have mentioned.

I agree, I was so stressed out because on all the free response and MC from previous years my teacher gave us I didn't do that hot. But yeah, this was easier than I thought it was gonna be. A lot of AB stuff, and if it was BC stuff, it wasnt that complicated. Granted there were three MC and a couple parts of FR that confused me, but I'm starting to think I might have a chance at getting a 5! When do we get results, I cant remember... :)

I felt it was somewhat easy, but some people were complaining. I wanna see my score already.

lol chances are if you didn't think you failed (and how many of you have actually failed a HUGE exam, say a midterm or final), you probably got a 5

I felt like I did ok on 4 of the 6 FRQ, and the other two are basically 0-1. MC wise I left like 5 blank and had like 2 guesses. So that's still a five, if the curve is generous right?

Yeah...I'm pretty sure I went 106/108. Much easier than I thought it would be.

am i seriously the only one who thought it was sort of hard?

i left like 5 blank on non-calculator. the calculator section was pretty easy, but i had no idea how to do some of the free response. i totally just made up some answers.

^youre not the only one

i thought the non calculator part for mc was actually really difficult... but then the calculator part was very easy and the frqs were almost a joke

yeah i basically thought the same. What's the most you can get wrong on the MC and still have a shot at a 4?

I actually thought this test was harder than last year's AB <.<. I went ballistic because I couldn't keep myself paced because I didn't know how much time we had left. When the proctor said, "times up" I freaked out cuz i was still on 6b -_-. I hope I pulled a 5 tho.. 5 omitted altogether on MC and i'm 90% sure I got the ones I answered right. and probably got 2/3 of the FRQs. You think it's a 5?

I left 9 blank in total on the MC. There were also a few educated guesses that were made because I was scared of leaving too many blank.

There was one part on the FRQ that I left completely blank. I just wrote "This is SPARTA!" in 4 different languages. I'm confident in almost all of the FRQ work I actually did.

Is a 5 still in my reach? I hope the curve is still like 50-60% for a 5.
