Next year I will be a senior. I am conflicted about which courses to sign up for. Some background info: I am looking to get into a highly competitive college. I have a strong GPA. I have zero clue what field I want to go into. I've considered everything from law to medicine to psych to my current interest of engineering.

The classes I'm SURE I'm taking next year: AP Lit, AP French, AP Calc BC, and plain old Physics.

I want to take one other course, and it's either going to be AP Chem or AP Econ. I've heard AP Chem is very hard, and I'm wondering if you think that would be too much in the same year as BC Calc.

One other thing. Is it unheard of to skip regular Physics and go straight to AP Physics?

Thank you so much!

No, I’m sure many people go straight into AP Physics. B of course, not C.
If you want to go into engineering, I suppose that Chem is more relevant to the major since it’s a required course for engineers.

You already have a science though, so would you want to double up?

At my high school, it was common to jump straight into Physics C. If you’re interested in engineering, taking one of AP Chem or AP Physics (either B or C) would probably help you figure out how much you actually would like to be an engineer, and help you pass out of those subjects in college. (Intro Chem or Physics college classes are often miserable.) Depends on how tempting Ec sounds to you, though; I personally like ec much better than chem, so either could be a good choice.
