***AP Chemistry (2016-2017)***

THIS CLASS ugh. I LOVE IT and I LOVE the teacher, but her grading rubric on the labs are crazy strict and her tests are way hard…

@bloxJacket SAME

What is everyone covering in class right now?
We just finished Big Idea 2

We just finished up gas laws. Haven’t checked to see what we’re doing next.

My class is using Zumdahl’s textbook and we have gone through chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 17. We are currently covering chapter 7.

We are just starting bonding and molecular geometry :((

I somehow have a high B in this class, it’s likely it’ll raise to an A for the first semester.

How are you all doing? We just finished IMFs and phase change. I really enjoyed that section. Not sure what’s next though…

@Shanban1607 We started Big Idea 3 recently. Doing Redox rn

I am not sure where we are in the “Big Idea” curriculum, but we have covered the chapters on Thermochemistry and orbitals/periodic trends, as well as the basics (chapters 1-5). I enjoyed thermochemistry the most of any of the topics so far.

I am probably going to get an A, but this class is for sure the most challenging class I have taken in high school.

Really struggling with balancing redox reactions with oxidation numbers. I swear sometimes I get a different answer than the answer key and they both work. I need to practice more

@kassh4 @TP2000 You guys are still on redox? We did that in October…we are having our general equilibria quiz tomorrow

@kwazi33772 No, my class did redox reactions a while ago.

We are currently working on Hybridization.

Easy galvanic cells/electrolysis

@super5000ify We just started galvanic cells today

Haven’t been here in a while. To bring y’all up to speed:

  • I passed with 1st quarter with a B (83%), luckily! :D
  • I got a 91% on my last lab!
  • We're currently on IMFs.

For anyone with Zumdahl’s 9e, I remember these study guides matched up pretty well with the textbook:

Guys if you want me to make a video on how to easily balance combustion reactions. Let me know.

memorize the basics going into AP chem ::: basic compounds (ei. Sulfate, oxalate, nitrate, ammonium, acetate), types of chemical reactions, and simple conversion equations between gases and solids.

And remember to study a lot

Anyone else have like no idea what’s going on with rate laws and reaction order?

@KSanders24 Our class just finished this unit last week. It’s honestly not that bad once you understand it. I recommend watching Bozemann science, that really helped me understand it. I ended up getting a 100% on the test with a 6 point curve. Good luck!
