My daughter took Pre-Ap chemistry in 9th grade and while 10th grade course selection system didn’t allow her to choose AP Chemistry. School counselor said just sign up for AP Physics and change it later but they couldn’t change due to full class. So she ended up taking AP Physics. Now my question is, can she take AP Chemistry without regular school for full credit? If not what are my options? She doesn’t want to take AP Chemistry in 11th grade. Please share your experience or I appreciate any feedback on this. Thank you!
I don’t understand why she wouldn’t take AP chem in 11th or 12th grade?
She only wants to take AP Physics 2 in 11th grade and she doesn’t want to be with younger kids in 12th grade. Now I don’t want keep her thinking what she is going to do in 12th grade.
Why does she need to take AP Chem? If she’s got bio, chem, physics, and one AP, she’s fine. It would be one thing if she were unwittingly limiting her college options by choosing not to take AP Chem, but she’s not. No harm in letting her make her own class selection.
AP chem at my daughter’s school was for seniors.
That said, there was lots of mixing of grades for some of the APs. There is nothing wrong with taking a course with younger students.
IMO, if she wants the AP credit, she should take the class in her school.
