My teacher really hasn’t gone over the actual format of the test very well, so I have a few questions:
- Am I allowed to use a MECHANICAL PENCIL for the FR instead of a #2 wooden pencil or a pen?
- In the FR, am I allowed to use abbreviations for common terms? For example:
a. IMF for intermolecular forces
b. e- for electrons, p+ for protons
c. M for molarity
d. Zeff for effective nuclear charge
e. e-/e- repulsion for electron electron repulsion
Basically like the stuff above ^^
Well I can only tell you that, for all AP exams, you MUST use pen at all times to answer free response questions. Black or dark blue ink only. The rule is simply put to minimize the risk of smudging when using pencil.
Cant answer #2 since I’m not in AP Chem, sorry
Thanks for the reply! @FutureDoctor2028
I was confused with the conflicting views on #1 when I looked online because according to:
https://apstudent.collegeboard.org/apcourse/ap-chemistry/exam-tips
“Remember, AP Readers can best grade your exam if you write legibly and use proper grammar.
Write in PENCIL or blue-ink pens and avoid using pens that smear easily. Write all answers in the lined spaces provided instead of squeezing words in between the question parts.”
Also, help on #2 still?
My teacher said not to abbreviate.
