AP Chemistry or AP Physics C?????

Should I take AP Chemistry or AP Physics C? Which is more appealing to colleges. I will be a senior nex year and i am in AP Biology this year. I have no previous Physics experience, but I am in Precalculus this year and will be taking AP Calculus next year.

I think the question is whether or not you have had any previous chem experience. If you do, I would go for AP chem, it's that much easier with a year of chemistry under your belt; without the year of chemistry, however, AP chem becomes one of the hardest courses you will take, because of the amount of reactions you will have to memorize and equations you will have to become accostomed toward. AP physics you can get away with, as long as you learn how to integrate properly.

The verdict: AP chem is you've taken a year of chemistry before, AP Physics otherwise.

I have taken Chemistry I Honors online, and I just completed it..so I think Chemistry is fresh under my belt....would you advise me take both?

Which one do you like better?

Just go with that one....

You could do both and it is definitely possible, but it will be difficult nonetheless.

UNLESS, you're already uber-math/sci, then you should have no real difficulty....

I would recommend AP Chem then, especially if you're taking AB calc instead of BC.

But honestly, I think you'll be okay either way, so sign up for the subject you enjoy more.

lol....well I dont liek Chemistry, but I have no prior knowledge in Physics...so I am out of luck on both sides lol...there is always AP Physics B or AP Environmental Science lol

I'm taking both. You would be better off reading up on each subject a little, rather than asking people here. I'm pretty sure that taking both AP Physics C exams is probably the hardest exam there is.(AP Wise)

I have the same problem too but I have had 1 year of Chem H and am taking Physics H this year. I signed up for Physics because its fresh in my mind. So, I recommend that you take whatever is fresh in your mind.

If you are taking Calc AB go with chem, Calc BC go with physics. I would think.

Um I guess that is fine, but I dont think Physics C really distinguishes the Calc BC or AB....I think you could be successful in both...i think i will do AP chem though....but I already got accepted to AP Physics C lol...I mean what is the difference between AP chem and hon chem? I heard that you dont balance equations in AP chem.

AP Chem is much more in depth and more involved than Honors Chem. And you don't "memorize reactions".

what prior knowledge from Chem Hon do you need for AP chem? Just knowing the periodic table of elements? I heard that is basically all you need to know before going into AP chem

List of things you should be familiar with if you want an easier year:
Periodic element trends
Elements and their oxidation #
Reaction types and prediction
Stoichiometry and decent math ability
Sub atomic particles, et al.
Properties of substances
Redox
(and some other things).

Is it true that some colleges will award more credit (two semesters rather than one) for a 5 on the AP Physics C exam than on AP Chem?

I'm in AP Physics C and taking Calc AB. The physics concepts are more difficult than the math involved, so that really isn't a problem.

Reasons for Chem:
Physics exam is supposedly a lot harder
Physics exam will cost you double because they split up mech and e&m.

Reasons for Physics:
It's cooler.

my school pays for the AP exams as long as you maintain a C in the class

Lucky.

As my parents were writing the $410 check they were like, "You'd better get a 4 or 5 on all of these."

Physics requires more creative thinking and math calculations. Physics has laws you just memorize. They work that's it. Chemistry is more vague, sometimes you're like so what really happens when this and this react, but in the end it requires less calculations, and chemistry calculations are easy as long as you mastered the conceptual questions. Physics go beyonds conceptual.

Wow Do You Live In Tampa?? I Think You Go To My School!!!

Scratch that. You cant go to my school, seeing as how we only have like 8 AP classes and AP bio is not one of them. Darn, and I was so excited to....
