Ap chemistry post test discussion [2011]

pi- yeah, second one doesn’t really work. probably half credit.
jalmoreno- hit more frequently… yeah that makes, sense. probably full credit

this was one of the most nuanced, and thus hardest questions on the exam IMO.

lolz, I thought there were much harder questions (almost anything relating to a lab, coordinate complexes, why N2H4 reacts as a base . . . )

So yeah, that FR was rough. I want a 5. I get no credit for it, but my chem teacher really wanted me to get a 5, and I don’t want to disappoint him. The last time a teacher made a prediction like that it turned out he was right, so I hope history repeats itself.

Also, I thought MC was much easier than on previous AP tests I got my hands on.

I actually think Form B looks easier than the regular/US test this year.

Oh my God I would have ROCKED the Form B. Dammit

How do you know what Form B was like???

It’s all on the college board website.

Nice thing is they compare how students do one year to previous years. Since general consensus is that this FR was a ***** (An earlier post said a teacher said this was one of the hardest test in the past few years) they will compensate for that by lowering the amount expected (and probably be a lot more flexible with the conceptual questions, I hope).

@jalmoreno, I thought the MC was really easy, too, especially easier that the 1999 released exam. Let’s just hope our feelings are right because I thought I would receive a 5 on WH last year, but I got a 3 -__-

College Board sucks and doesn’t explain exactly what they do. However, they do “equating” which means they make a comparison to last year. It’s not clear how equating exactly works, but there are a base of questions from previous years (hence the no talking about MC) involved, and I imagine an analysis of the mean raw score. Anyways, the raw score was supposed to increase because of no guessing, but I’m sure that now the increase will not be too great.

I can’t remember if I did question number six or not. I think that while I was taking this, I might have missed it. Please help.

When it was set up, was it set up so that you did question four, then question five, question six and then tons of blank pages, or was it that there was blank pages after question five and then question six was hidden back there somewhere? I cannot for the life of me remember what I did.

Question six was about reaction rates… 0 order reaction.

ugh…my friend said that the test was too easy and that he thought the curve would be bad this year and I was like >_>

i put the pH as 1 and it should have 1.00, will i get that point or not

and would 1/250000, be accepted as the value of k because it is equivalent to 4E-6

Agree with most,

Multiple choice was ridiculously easy.
FRQ were bad but not horrible, I think.
-equilibrium Q was harder than any I had seen from old exams-but overall I anticipate about a 5 at the lowest on that one
-lab-based, experimental question I thought was super-easy
-#3 was not too bad, but not perfect
-reaxns: #1 and 3 were a breeze, not number two though, except I think I got the follow-up question on number two
-for hydrazine question, I was out of my mind to put a triple bond between the two central N atoms, cant believe I did that i disregarded octet rule just because I saw formal charge was okay and then quickly moved on, but oh well, I’m just gonna get over it and say “we all make mistakes”; otherwise, rest of question was okay
-reaxn order question was almost a breeze if we don’t count the last part f

Unless i made stupid mistakes (as time was of the great essence on the FRQ) I am hoping for a high 4 (not that that would make a difference) or 5.

You definitely should get the points. You absolutely not wrong about including ethanol to order of 0.

I know you are able to get your score on July 1st by phone, but when do the actual score reports come in by mail?

By the way i thought the free response was MUCH harder than any of the previous years, but maybe that’s just me. The MC wasn’t that bad though.

^It’s definitely not just you.

^Agreed. Here’s hoping for at least a 4!

I took the makeup test and it was the same makeup test from 2010 (Said May 2010 on the cover). Thought that was odd…
