AP Chemistry prerequisites

I am taking AP Chemistry next year as a senior. I am a little worried because I took honors chem my sophomore year and although I understood everything, I don't remember it at all really. To make things a little scarier for me, they are changing the exam this year much like they changed the AP Bio exam last year. It is supposed to go over less material but incorporate more critical thinking and stuff like that, so I'm not really sure what to expect.

I'm not as worried because I know that if I could understand the basic concepts once, I can do it again. I just want to feel a little more prepared. I started going over concepts like balancing equations and stoichiometry to refresh my memory. I am guessing sig figs would also be good to go over. I was wondering what other concepts are good to know before taking the class. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

It seems like you are on the right track. What I’d also work on is memorizing the solubility tables, and memorizing names and charges of the common cations and anions that you’ll work with in Chemistry. Memorize the strong acids and bases as well.

Also some basic atomic theory and chemical bonding.

You should be ok. My class spent our first week (last week) reviewing sig figs, scientific notation, and a lot of the beginner stuff we learned in honors chem. We’ll probably review next week, to. Keep going over the old concepts and start memorizing the new stuff like polyatomic ions, and everything darksaber said. Good luck :)

Thank you everyone!
