***AP Chemistry Thread 2015-2016***

You would get that answer if you assume the x in the denominator is negligible. It isn’t negligible because the answer breaks the 5% rule, so you can’t do that. K is so large that the reactants completely react. (Or at least this is what I put, idk if it’s right) @destined4harvard

Mr. Dingle is putting out the answers. It’s live!

Too bad I won’t get to see the international FRQs

@arrayloops @oneandonlyx I got 10-14 by doing Henderson Hasselbalch

I didn’t get the test posted on the website (I’m in the US). Half of the people in my school had this form (Form O) while the rest of us had the other (Form E). Any idea if they’ll release the latter?

I had Form I :smiley: How many forms are there :frowning:

@iamnotioronman I got 10-14 as well. I think the pH at half-equivalence point was something like 9.96?

Do you know if 90% FRQ and 80% MC is enough for a 5?

This exam seemed easy, and I seemed to have gotten almost all the FRQ correct (>90%)!

@arrayloops Same!

On another note, who else feels like Question 3 will be the one they grade for sig. figs?

Also did anyone else find Q7 pretty easy?

What is the rule for grading sig figs?

@bsdsj22 Least sig figs for multiplying, least accurate for adding. I’ve heard you lose full credit if you mess up sig figs, and it seems consistent with the released tests I’ve seen.

For those who are wondering about sigfigs (my teacher was an AP grader and I took AP chem last year):
-for full credit, you need the right answer with the correct number of sigfigs
-if you have the correct number of sigfigs, but your answer is off by a little (i.e. 1.59 g is accepted, 1.60 and 1.58 are also possible) you will get points.
-if you technically have the “correct” answer, but wrong sigfigs, the amount of points you lose depends on the problem. for multipoint answers, it’s possible 1 point or so is taken off. for single point answers, it’s all or nothing, so you have to have the correct answer AND correct sigfigs.

@tucitcennoc That’s more than enough for a 5. Great job!

@Greninja Thank you! That’s awesome!

lol, is there no partial credit on the frq’s?

@Cornbread1999 There is partial credit, but not partial points. All 1 point parts (essentially most of the FRQ) is all or nothing.

@Cornbread1999 like you get points for correct answers but you also get points for setting up a problem/equation correctly. Also, you can still get credit if you got one part of the question wrong and it screws up the rest of your answers, provided that you did the questions correctly.

@tucitcennoc I also did way better than I expected on the FRQ!!! I just hope I did well enough on the MC because it was much harder for me.

Late July/early August, although someone always comes up with an unofficial version long before then.

7/5-7/9, depending upon your state.

@tucitcennoc @iamnotironman thanks

also lol I did a lot worse than expected on the FRQ and only a little worse than expected on MC haha. I just hope my raw score stays above the 5 cutoff…

I wish I had known about sigfigs beforehand. I just did 3 for all of them because BC Calc >_<

@DangerDan96 I think it will be more like low 70s. It’s never been higher than that and although 2016 was probably easier than last years’, it wasn’t *that easy.
