how much of a disadvantage would it be for me (who is interested in becoming a premed) to not take ap chem until senior year? i have taken ap euro (5) in sophomore year and im planning to take ap spanish, us, and english junior year.

It doesn't matter if you're going to college -> medical school. I'm not sure about those BS/MD programs though.

but wouldnt it seem weird if i didnt take science aps until sr year and say in my essays that i want to be a doctor?

it's not htat big of a deal...breathe

You're still in high school...colleges don't expect you to know that you want to be a doctor yet.

As long as you're taking the right courses to prepare for medicine, you'll be fine. It doesn't matter when you take it.

Take AP Chem senior year, don't worry about not taking it in junior year, enjoy the course and apply it beyond how they teach it in school. I loved AP Chem.

i think you should take advantage of ap chem. I did, and i felt it is important. However, it is best to take it at sophmore or senior year. You will have more free time to understand it.

i'm taking it my senior year too...this year (junior year), i'm taking ap bio.

I took AP chem my junior year. I thought it was pretty hard, and I hear that it is the hardest science AP, so if might be tough second semester senior year taking AP chem. It depends on your ability to stay focused.

I took AP Chem(loved it!)my junior year and the only reason why I believe it was somewhat of a challenge was because my teacher didn't explain the material as much as he should have.

But i would suggest taking classes that your interested in. You mentioned that you were interested in becoming a doctor, so I "hope" that you like your science classes.

i took ap chem my sophomore year. you're not obligated to take it, though i would recommend it if you're good at science (which you should be, to be premed) and you like it.

also check with your prospective college's ap credit policies. some colleges might waiver an intro to chem course -- but even if they don't, taking ap chem should help prepare for that intro course.

oh yeah, if you take it, don't forget your material when you go to college. it's becoming a small problem for me right now.
