AP Classes online? (Through JHU/CTY)

I was thinking about taking AP Biology and/or AP English Language & Composition this coming school year through the JHU/CTY Distance Education program. I'm familiar with JHU/CTY summer programs and the workload included in them, but I've never taken an online class before.

Has anyone ever taken this or something like it before? How is the workload in comparison to regular AP's taken in school. Would one be able to handle it while simotaniously taking a rigorous courseload in school without super-human stregnth? Any advice to offer?

For the record, I'm going to be a sophomore. Thanks. :)

Ugh, please excuse the butchering of the word simultaneously. It's late. ;)

Sorry, I can't help you with your original question, but I have a question about CTY's distance education, too. Perhaps a kind soul will shed some light.

My dilemma:
I'm signed up for AP Psych, but
1. I can't tell if it's worth it, since even with financial aid I'm still paying $400 + (is that too much for a credit, whaaat?) and
2. Yeah... I'm not sure if I should pull out and just self-study AP Psych... Like is CTY offering a good deal on their AP courses (even at the normal $1000 price), or are there other cheaper alternatives? If I just took an Intro to Psych in college, would it be better to just save my money for that?

Meh, I'm typing this out too early. -.-

My daughter will be taking her first CTY course this semester - Crafting the Essay. We'll see how it goes. We figured a class that writing intensive would benefit from more direct interaction with a teacher than some other classes. AP Psych seems like it would be more possible to self study, but still probably easier and perhaps more efficient through a class.

uh, yeah. it's called independent study :)

^ amen to that.

AP Bio is sooooo easy, it's not worth it to pay more than $100 for a used textbook and a Barron's study guide. I copied all my work last year, fell asleep most days, and still pulled a A+ and a 5 on the exam. Good ol' Barrrons. :)

PM me for details if you want.

I feel like Lang is more about knowing how to write than actually taking a course, seeing as there's no standard reading (correct me if I'm wrong). A writing tutor MAY help, but it would have to be someone who knows AP style well. If you're already a good/great writer, then I'd suggest just reading a lot of good articles and getting a review book and maybe solicting the advice of a sage old English teacher.

Thanks, guys. I decided to just appeal for more financial aid and got it down to 200 dollars so I figured why not..

I'm pretty happy with my decision and I'm so sure I got a 5 because of my distance edu. instructor. I didn't even need to study. ;)

But self-studying wouldn't have been that bad...

Lol I don't get how you guys think these AP classes are easy. I studied a bunch and paid attention class, yet I thought I did horrible on the AP Calc Bc and World history exams. You guys think I'll pull off 5's ? I mean, I got A+'s in both classes..yet I know I missed a ton of MC on world history.

@ sarmango
don't do AP Pysch. I'm sorry if its too late but all you honestly are going to need is Barrons and you could learn all the material in 2 weeks, honestly.

Same w/ bio but not 2 weeks more like 2 months, but stil not worth taking
online.

Bump…
