I’m currently a junior, and it’s been a huge headache for me to decide my schedule for my senior year. Honestly.
So far, after many conversations between my teachers, parents, and myself; this is the schedule I have so far.
AP Calc BC
AP Physics 2
AP Bio
Regular English
Regular Government
AP Spanish 7-8 or AP Psychology or Art or Free Period (No idea)
I’m currently in NHS and another club as well. I think I will also be taking extracurricular classes after school next year for 2 hours every other day as well.
I have questions about doubling up on AP sciences. Is this actually a good idea? How hard is Physics C? How hard is AP Bio? Is this schedule doable? Should I take a free period?
Thank you.
From what I have heard, AP Physics C is just Physics B with some basic calculus, which should be covered in AP Calculus BC. I would take Spanish because colleges like to see continuous LOTE studies throughout high school. However, drop either AP Physics or AP Biology if you NEED a free period.
How about AP Physics 2? I don’t think I’ll drop Physics. If i should, I’ll drop AP Bio.
This pretty much depends upon what you want to do with your life. If you plan on majoring in math/physics/engineering, Physics C is more useful that Physics 2. Otherwise, Physics 2 is fine.
In terms of doubling up on sciences, it is doable. But be aware that in many schools, AP Bio/Chem/Physics have double period lab periods, which may impact the rest of your schedule. In addition to the regular workload of an AP class, expect extra work with writing up lab reports.
As far as how hard Physics C is, personally, I found it to be the most difficult and time-consuming of my AP’s. However, every person is different.
