AP Computer Science

I'm very good at both science and math. I am very good with using computers. In fact people sometimes come to me for help. I am also very good at using video production softwares to create cool videos with special effects.But Int he course description it said that this course i based on creating games. I remember 2 years ago when we were using a software called, Scratch, I couldn't make a decent game while other people in my class did. That's the only reason why I think I should no take this class. Is AP Computer Science for me?

I think so. The whole class isn’t just about making games.

Definitely take it if you’re interested.
Programming and Scratch are completely different. In scratch, all the code is pre-written, so it’s not really programming.

In Programming, you actually use code to output text and it is based on a lot of problem solving

Would you say that if i’m not good in scratch I could be good in programing?

Absolutely. You might not be the best software user of a certain program but you can still code/write!

Most free-response questions are along the lines of:

"Write a method that returns the average of a given Array of ints.
public double getAverage (intnumbers)
{

// write code

}

"

(this would be on the easier side, but almost all the questions are quite easy though)

You should be fine.

Tch. Anyone who’s a computer person is up for taking AP CS. If you’re a computer person, then you’re the type of person that is willing to learn stuff and figure out things and experiment on your own. You don’t need people to guide you. You have the proper geek mindset of clicking all the menus, trying everything, Googling up a storm, &c…until you solve a problem, or you ask someone for help and you don’t get weird ego issues from doing so.

You need to be this kind of kid to do well in AP CS but I’m pretty sure you are, from your description.

Besides, it’s fun. =) Knowing to program is incredibly useful. I wrote a script to notify me when stuff on a predetermined wishlist goes on sale online. I’m a weird kid.
