Hi,
At the moment I'm a high school sophomore, and in a few months I'm going to have to decide what courses/AP classes I want to take for next year. Particularly, I have my sights set on AP Biology and Language. However, I can't decide whether or not I want to take AP Human Geography or not. Any advice? Keep in mind that I am willing to put time and effort into these classes, as well as other non-AP classes as well; nonetheless, I also don't want to be too over-stressed and want to partake in extracurricular activities.

Thanks :)

What AP classes does your school offer? What non-AP classes will you be taking?
Human Geography is usually considered to be one of the easiest AP classes.

My school offers around 10-20 AP’s; however, only AP Bio, Lang, and Human Geo concern me. As for non-AP classes I’ll be taking Pre-Cal, Spanish 2, US History, and around 2 basic electives.

If you’re only looking for college credit, don’t go for Human Geography. If you’re looking for a genuinely fun course, however, I say go ahead and enroll! It’s not as difficult as many of the other APs, and it’s immensely interesting if you enjoy things like economics, culture, comp. religion, etc.

Biology and Language are both rather hard courses, but in my opinion, they won’t kill your social life as long as you don’t fall behind. Pre-Cal may be difficult to manage on top of that courseload, but I think it’s definitely doable (I did something similar as a sophomore and, despite being a slacker, did fairly well).

Does anyone have experience with AP Chem and AP Physics B? I heard they were both notoriously difficult, but I’m a math person.

I can’t speak for Physics B, but that’s a moot point, since this year is the last year that it’s offered, being replace by the Physics 1/2 sequence next year. However, I have taken Physics C and Chem. The workload is hard but doable. I think a lot has to do with the teacher. Great teachers = great classes.
