If my son majors in Biology in college and takes AP Calculus and AP Chem, how will Med Schools look at his record? Would he have to take Chem and Calc over again?

We think he needs the AP courses to get into a good college, so what should he do? What have other Med School students done?

yes, he would want to take all the courses again--both because medical schools for the most part don't accept AP credit and because in almost all cases a REAL college science class is more in-depth than a high school AP class. Plus, even if AP credit was accepted by med schools, not having taken chemistry, for example, would make the medical school classes harder because your son wouldn't have seen the basic chemistry topics for 4+ years.

APs are great, and yes they are helpful for getting into a good college (though if a school doesn't offer any it supposedly isn't held against the student). Also, the added bonus of APs is that when someone re-takes the class in college they're more likely to get an A.
