AP Credit at UCLA

Does UCLA limit the number of ap credits that I can use if I get accepted? I will have 114 ap credits after my senior year, so will that put me as sophomore/junior standing? Why or why not? Are these ap credits even beneficial in the first place? Like how much earlier can I graduate with these credits. I fulfill all the requirements except for general ed and writing 2 FYI

Are you sure that’s an accurate number? 114 is excessive (use the link above to double check), but kudos if you’l actually have that (most students come in with 30-60 AP credits)

Anyway, to answer your question:
-No limit on how many AP Credits you can use, if you have 114, you can use 114

-Credits doesn’t equate to classes, so except for the AP tests that allow you to waive a course (ex. AP Calc BC->waiving MATH 31A, 31B), the credits you bring in will just be “empty” credits–credits that add to your class standing (so you get to sign up earlier) but don’t actually count toward your degree requirements (unless you’re short on credits to graduate, in which case they’ll help you graduate if you passed all the relevant classes)

-You’ll be put on junior standing coming in, this gives you an earlier signup time over people with freshman and sophomore standing (this actually helps a lot since you’ll literally never get screwed over in signing up for a class if you plan your schedule well)

-As explained earlier, they’re helpful in inflating your class rank, but they usually won’t help you graduate earlier unless the AP Test allows you to waive a class

Thank you so much for the reply! It means a lot!

I’m just wondering, how did you managed to get 114 ap credits?

I took 18 and I have self-studied a few. If they don’t really cut back on the time needed to graduate, then that was a waste of time lol
