AP Credit Experiences

Hi, by the end of this year I expect to have taken and aced enough AP tests to receive about a year's worth of credits for college - give or take. I've read how sometimes people decide to decline credit for some AP tests that they have taken. I know that some do this because they don't want to enter with credit to a prerequisite that they might not know enough about or feel learned much from in high school; they fear that they may subsequently struggle by taking the intro course credit and entering a 2nd year course immediately.

I was wondering if anyone has ever accepted credits for a particular AP Exam, but later regretted it because perhaps the AP test just wasn't enough for them to master the concepts? Has anyone ever decided to decline AP credits and taken the intro class, only to realize that their preparation for the AP test was more than adequate in covering the material for the class?

I want to graduate college quicker, but I don't want to risk screwing up by accepting credit and later realizing it was a mistake.

One caveat--if medical school is a possibility in your future, be very careful. Some med schools will not accept AP credits in lieu of actual college classes. AP Calc is the particular one I see mentioned most often as causing problems.
