I was just wondering what scores were needed to place out of the first year writing seminar. On Cornell's page is says depending on college, and from what I read on the ILR page it says the a 4 or 5 is needed (CAS needs 5). SO If I started out in CAS and I got a 4, I would take the writing seminar, but if I transferred into ILR second semester, would the 4 replace the second writing seminar in ILR? I've been trying to figure out how it all works. thanks

There you go: [AP Credit, Transfers and Course Substitutions - Knight Institute for Writing in the Disciplines](http://www.arts.cornell.edu/knight_institute/fws/credit.htm)
I’m not sure about the deal with transferring though… you should probably contact Cornell.

I got a 5 on the English Language exam and applied to CAS. Hypothetically (i.e. if I am admitted), what would be the next level of courses that I could take if I don’t want to take a FWS but would like to enhance my expository writing?

hmm. don’t know. I’m looking at the course catalog and not coming up with much. this is where I’m looking, maybe someone in CAS could know better. I know that when I used my AP credit for FWS I went ahead and took another course toward my major instead.

my only guess is that maybe “English” isn’t the right heading for this.
