Does anyone know how Cornell handels AP English Language & Composition and AP English Literature credits? Specifically for CALS? I know most schools force freshmen to take at least one writing seminar, but what exactly is Cornell's policy?

(In other words, should I bother caring what happens for my AP Lit exam this thursday? :P)

a 4 gets you out of a writing seminar in CALS

is that AP Lit, Lang, or either? ^_^;

if either, will a 4 in both get you out of two writing seminars? Is it suggested to take the writing seminar anyways?

As I've heard it, a 5 on either AP English exam (lit/comp or language) gets you out of one semester of seminar. If you got fives in both, you test out of both.

However, in CALS, and CALS only, you only need 4's on these exams to get credit and be placed out of the seminars. A sufficient score only gets you out of one of the required two semesters of frosh seminar unless you took both exams.

I think, but am not sure, that they only allow you to place out of one writing seminar. Also, the seminars are supposed to be a lot of fun b/c it is a small class and you get to choose among many topics on which you want your writing seminar based.
