I realize that there have been many threads on this but im thouroughly confused.

ive been accepted and im premed majoring in neuroscience..should i try to test out of chem or calc? I wanted to test of out eng but the chart said that hopkins doesnt recognize any of the eng tests as credit.
I was thinking that i shouldnt test out of chem calc or bio since they are so vital for my major and just take it at hopkins. But i read that a student who came in with no ap credit rly regret it. is it going to be that big of a problem if i come in the fall with no ap credits?

just take the ap tests, since you've been prepping for it for a school year =D and then decide whether you want to use it or not once you go

< farah i really sympathize w/ you...out of the 4 ap tests i took as a junior only 1 of them counted although i got 4 and 5 on them...and this year out of the 5 only 3 counts...
edit: "Not all classes are curved. Freshmen year classes are curved (ex. General Chemistry and General Physics). Upper level classes tend to be normalized (ex. Biochemistry and Cell Biology). This means you get the grade you study for. It is possible for everyone to get an A. It is possible for no one to get an A."-so it might be beneficial to use your ap credits =D

Seriously. Don't take Intro Chem here. Most of the professors 1st semester are horrendous. That's because there are about 1000 people here every year that need to take it because they are bio or chemistry majors, and they want to weed us out.
The Calc professors aren't so bad, but the tests can be difficult. The choice is yours.

These questions have been answered on the Hopkins Forums -- and what better place to get answers to your questions then from a group of current students who already went through the process of deciding whether to use AP credits

AdmissionsDaniel, not to sound overly hyper or anything..but should i talk to an advisor at hopkins now and ask them their advice...bc im rly torn between taking the tests and not..thanks.

O.o lol...um...i emailed the person who said there is no ap cap limit but there is a cap for community college transcript O.o ...they might be busy for now because a new semester just started because the last email i sent has not yet been answered =(... or probably i was asking a bit too much...like evaluating how much credits that i have received from a cc can actually be used at hopkins O.o

Sorry for the delay in my response. You may try to contact an academic advisor about your question regarding AP credits, but they will probably tell you what you have already been told -- it is your choice whether to take AP exams and it is your choice whether or not to use the credits that come with certain scores.

The best advice that is often provided is that students take AP exams where Hopkins provides credits, and if they receive the required scores then they will have a choice during freshman registration whether or not to take the credits. During the summer when freshmen are registering, the advising offices provide detail on why students should OR should not use AP scores and then you can make the decision.

As for taking AP exams where Hopkins does not provide credit: if you are committed to enrolling at Hopkins then there is no reason to take such exams. Those exams will not be used for placement nor any credit.
